CLAYTON K. FULKS
Funeral services for Clayton K. Fulks were held at 2:30 o'clock in the Abingdon (Ill.) Christian church, in charge of Rev. John C. Watson, pastor of the Christian church. Song service was in the care of Harold Bell, organ selections were played by Mrs. Harold Bell, both of Avon. Floral offerings were in charge of Miss Rosemary Ramos and Miss Susie Ramos of Peoria and Miss Shirley Engle and Miss Marsha Engle of Abingdon. Services were in charge of the Harry E. Wiles post of American Legion. Burial was in the Abingdon cemetery.
Casketbearers were Morris Fordyce, Joe Howard, Ralph Niles, Leo O'Hearn, Antonio Farelli and William Andrews. Commander Toncey Pedigo; colorbearers, J. S. Hobbs, and Martin Allison; color guards, Pat Bauer and Harold Nott; firing squad, Arlien Johnson, Ed Norquist and Walter Howard were in charge.
Clayton Kenneth Fulks was born Feb. 14, 1911, at Clarion, Iowa. He was the eldest son of Upton and Ethel Fulks, both deceased. He graduated from school in Clarion, where he was active in all sports in the year of 1929. He served three years in the service and saw active duty in New Guinea and the Philippines.
He was married to Neva Engle Smith of Abingdon, Ill., on Nov. 23, 1943. Since his discharge from service he had been employed by the Caterpillar Tractor Co. of Peoria, Ill. where they resided.
He was attached to Co. B 1879th Engineering Co. of the United States army in World war II.
He is survived by his wife; one step-son, Norbert Smith; one step-daughter, Sandra Kay Smith, both of Peoria. He is also survived by his stepmother, Mrs. Rosa Fulks of Clarion and three sisters, Mrs. Isabelle Wild of Panora, Mrs. Margaret Bengston of South Bend, Ind., and Mrs. Eleanor McIntosh of Danville, Ill., and one brother, Wilbur Fulks of Waterloo. Four half-brothers, Charles Fulks of Waterloo, Harold Fulks of Oelwein, Robert Fulks of Evansdale and Sgt. George Fulks of Langley Field, U. S. Air Force, survive also.
