-Henry Potter, a well known resident of this county, died suddenly at his home near DeVoe, of heart disease, on Sunday last, Nov. 24, at 9 P. M.
DIED: at his residence, near DeVoe, on Nov, 24, 1889, Mr. Henry Potter, in his 53rd year. Mr. Potter had been in delicate health for number of years but endured his affliction with great patience and fortitude. He was a kind and indulgent father and husband, and was very highly esteemed by his neighbors as an honorable and upright citizen. Mr Potter was born in Indiana and served in the war of the rebellion in the 153rd Indiana Vol. infantry. Some time after the war he moved to Atlantic, Iowa, where he became a member of Sam. Rice post, No. 6, Iowa dep't. Some three years ago he came to Dakota. it was his desire and intent to unite with the Phil Sheridan Post, at Faulkton, but the summons to join the innumerable host, in the other and better world, came sooner than expected, and he is now with the larger throng of Army Boys; those who have been released from the cares and afflictions of this life. The remains were interred in the Faulkton cemetery under the supervision of Phil Sheridan Post.
Note from Priscilla: Henry, according to his Civil War enlistment papers, was born in Buffalo, Erie Co., N.Y., although he may not have actually been born in that city, but a few miles from there in Amherst Township.
