Jane and John migrated to Madison County, Illinois with John's mother, his brothers, and sisters about 1810, and settled in Saline Township near the Augusta Church. He was a ranger during the Indian troubles; a member of the Legislature of 1810 when Illinois became a state; and was first Justice of the Peace. He died 7 Jul 1827 in Madison County, Illinois, leaving a widow with a very young family.

Jane moved to Fayette County, Illinois where she is listed in the 1830 census; to Effingham, Lee, Iowa where she died on 27 January 1847.
