Antoinette married Amos Harris, a successful gold miner and businessman in 1859. In 1881 Antoinette and Amos settled Near Fowler's Switch before there were any other farms or settlements in the area. Determined to make the best of her situation, Antoinette managed to make their home the central point for cultural gatherings in the area until the town of Fowler was well established.
