He married Elizabeth Sarah Broadhead also from England on Sept 8, 1851 in St. Louis Missouri and later lived in Iowa.
They were living in Iowa for the 1860 census with 3 children but sometime after they must have separated because Elizabeth married an Edward Lunt in 1866 and lived in Utah near her children and then later again married someone by the name of Harwood.
In 1875 John was listed in the California Voter Registration as a farmer and living in Black Rock area of Owens Valley.
He died in 1879 of unknown causes.
Children not listed below:
Son: Joseph Denton
Son: John Denton
Note: There was a John F Denton also from England who was a soldier at Camp Independence, enlisted in 1867 and was discharged in 1871. He listed his birthplace as "Turvey" same birthplace town as John T Denton's father Joseph. John was also listed in the 1870 census as a soldier at the camp.
The evidence so far indicates that they were the same person. He probably went to California with "Gold Fever" and then ended up enlisting in the army.
