Mark Burnell is my (Kim Kendall's)great-great grandmother's brother. He is the son of James Burnell and Elizabeth Cain and he was born in Exton, Somerset, England. All of their children immigrated to the Macoupin/Montgomery/Christian County area of Illinois and most of the descendants are still in the area.
Mark married Mary E. Dalton on 8-28-1867 in Montgomery Co., IL. She is the daughter of Talitha Hart and Lewis Henry Dalton. Talitha is also buried in Providence Cemetery.
Mark and Mary had another daughter besides Annie (also in Providence Cemetery) named Mollie (Mary). I haven't found any trace of her except for a listing on the 1870 census. Maybe someday she'll turn up too.
