BAAN, Catharine - Catharine J. (van der Veldon) Baan, of RR 3, Walton, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, October 2, 2008, at Huronlea Home for the Aged. Born in the Netherlands on January 18, 1914, Catharine was in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late Martin Baan. Dear father of John Baan and wife Mary of Walton, Nellie Booker and husband Howard of Spragge, Gerald Baan and wife Doreen of New Hamburg, and David Baan and wife Dianne of Walton. Special grandma to Steve and Teresa Baan, Don and Monique Baan, Heather and Richard Gerber, Mark and Becky Booker, Anna and Jim Raddon, Jonathon and Lauren Booker, Joel and Christine Booker, Wesley Booker, Christine and Richard Snyder, Jeremy Baan, Kim and Brent Battler, Jason and Erin Baan and Charmaine and Manny Berenguel and loved by her 24 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by a daughter and a brother. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the Schimanski Family Funeral Home, 401 Albert Street, Brussels. The funeral service will be conducted Sunday, October 5 at 2:30 p.m. from Brussels Mennonite Fellowship, 250 Princess Street, Brussels. Interment to take place in Brussels Cemetery.
