Ed Wild, known to hundreds of early Blair residents as Doc, died on Christmas night at Mrs. Dick Stricklett's home where he had resided the past three years. Wild was a veterinarian and liveryman here for many years . He was 91 years old, confined to a bed for the past two months. Mr. Wild had been ailing the past two years. Funeral services were conducted at the Campbell Mortuary Monday afternoon by Rev. John P. Brooks, pastor of First Methodist Church. Interment followed in Blair Cemetery.
Born October 10, 1851, son of Mr. And Mrs. B. M. Wild, Mr. Wild was living in the vicinity before Blair was founded in 1869. He conducted a popular livery business years ago located variously on Front Street, Walker Ave. and Washington Street.
Surviving him are a sister, Mrs. S. Leslie of Council Bluffs; a brother, Elmer of Fremont; a number of nephews and nieces, including Mrs. G. E. Stanley and Mrs. Bertha McManigal of Blair.
Edward was married twice. The first was to Amy Anna West. The second was to Mary Catherine "Molly" Worley. Both marriages ended in divorce.
Edward Wild and Amy West were blessed with a daughter, Ruie Jane Wild, b. between 1875-1890. After the divorce, Amy West married Herman Flietner, and they lived in South Dakota before going to Los Angeles. They are buried in the Artesia Cemetery.
Edward's daughter, Ruie Jane Wild married Alvin Greeley McClure on September 8, 1903 in Pringle, Custer County, South Dakota. They had two children who died at birth. Sadly, Ruie Jane committed suicide and died September 24 1927 Los Angeles, California.
Edward's second wife, Mary Catherine "Molly" Worley was buried February 17, 1954 in Blair, Nebraska.
