Howard Ames Van Sickle, 1201 Fifth street NW, a Cedar Rapids resident for many years and a painter, died in a Cedar Rapids hospital Saturday evening following a brief illness. Born Oct. 5, 1887, at Wapello, he was married to Jennie Lauty [sic] Nov. 3, 1912, at Morning Sun.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Mrs. L. F. Milburn of Homewood, Ill.; Mrs. Josephine Houser of Hammond, Ind., and Mrs. David Mitchell of Miami Beach, five brothers, one sister and five grandchildren.
Mr. Van Sickle was a member of Olivet Presbyterian church and was at one time superintendent of the Sunday school. He was a longtime member of the IOOF.
Services will be conducted in the Turner chapel at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday by the Rev. D. Keith Irwin. Burial will be in Linwood cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
