Prissy was the daughter of the Reverend William "Billy" Stanfield and Mary Smith. Her father was Baptist minister, Providence Church, "Mother Church" of the Indian Creek Baptist Association, Wayne County, Tennessee, founded in 1830's. In 1848, Prissy married Thomas Henderson "Ken" Dickerson. Their children included Mary Jane, Arrena "Rene," and Thomas Iredell "Tom." Prissy died at the home of her nephew while on a trip to Hardin County, Tennessee, visiting family.
