Son of the late Isaac and Naomi Duckworth Strait. He had a wife Lucille (Hardesty) at the time of the accident. His residence was probably Shinnston, Harrison County, WV, but he may have been from Glenville, WV. World War II Veteran. Member of the Shinnston Moose and Enterprise's St James Methodist Church.
Twenty three years experience as a coal miner. He was a supply motorman at the time of the Farmington Number 9 mine disaster on Nov 20, 1968. He, along with 77 others lost their lives. His body was recovered on September 24, 1973.
