STAFFORD SPRINGS, Conn. — Stanley E. Scroggins, 58, of Leonard Road, Stafford Springs, Conn., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 16, 2009, at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Stafford Springs. He was born in Cleveland, Tenn., son of Evelyn (Burnette) Scroggins and the late James R. Scroggins.
Stan was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during Vietnam. He was currently employed at St. Francis Hospital as a radiation therapist. Stan was passionately involved in youth sports, enjoying coaching and umpiring in all the town leagues for more than 20 years.
Stan is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Karen Scroggins of Stafford Springs; four children, Jobe of North Carolina and Jared, Kacey and Jesse of Stafford Springs; two grandchildren, Emma and Aiden; his mother, Evelyn (Burnette) Scroggins; five siblings, Jim Scroggins and his wife, Priscilla of Florida, Becky Brown and her husband, Colin, Crickett Terry and her husband, Don, Don Scroggins and his wife, Sharon, and David Scroggins and his wife, Suzanne, all of New York; stepmother-in-law, Janet Santos; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Sylvester; brother-in-law, Jim Santos, and his wife, Shaune; many loving nieces and nephews; and close friends.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, March 20, at 11 a.m. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, Conn. Burial will be held privately at the family's convenience. Calling hours are on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
