Eugene Duncan

MOULTON — Eugene Duncan, Danville 3, who had served as an engineer for Lawrence County, died in University ' Hospital at Birmingham Thursday at 6:20 a.m. Mr. Duncan died following two successive heart operations.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Johnson Chapel with Bro. Johnny Roberts and Bro. O. B. Hunnicutt officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Elliott Brown-Service of Moulton directing.

A veteran of World War II and a prisoner in Germany for months of the war, he was a native of Walker County and had lived in Lawrence County for 15 years: He was a member of the American Legion. He worked with North Alabama Engineering Co. in Decatur for four years and before his illness served two years as an engineer for Lawrence County.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Nellie Duncan; three sons, Kerry Wayne, Stanley Gene, and Derry James, all of Danville 3; four brothers. Palmer Lee Adis Duncan, and D. J. Duncan, both of Danville 2; J. C. Duncan, U.S. Army, Savannah, Ga. ; and Lebren Duncan, of Florida; one sister, Mrs. Avis Barrett, Houston, Ala.; two half-sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Cooper, Chicago; Mrs. Lonnie Box, Houston, Ala.; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel J. Duncan, Houston, Ala.; and a number of other relatives.

Active pallbearers will be engineers for Lawrence County.

Eugene Duncan was born Friday, November 14, 1919 to Daniel Jackson Duncan" and Josie Annie Compton Duncan".

He married Nellie Ruth Glenn, a daughter of Eddie Roy Glenn and Nettie S. Glasgow Glenn on March 6, 1946 in Morgan County, Alabama.
