At her residence, daughter of the late John Moses and Lula Marie Payne Murphy, I. Born in Orange County, now Culpeper County, on Raccoon Ford Road. She was the wife of the late Calvin Cornelius Byrd, Sr., mother of five, including the late Carolyn Mae Byrd Franklin King, Juanita Frances Byrd Jones, Calvin NMN Byrd, Jr. and Jerry Juan Byrd; one granddaughter, Samathia Tiani Franklin Branch preceded her in death; sister of four, including Samuel Warren Murphy, Sr. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, one great great grandson, five sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends; and only one Payne first cousin, Dorothy Mae Blackwell Cobb, who was more like a sister. Mrs. Byrd lay in state at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, True Blue, Virginia, where she was a life long member, and The Mount Olive Baptist Church, Centreville, Virginia, Rev. Eugene Johnson, Pastor. Rev. James Gregory Mack, Pastor, Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, officiating. She was a member by Christian experience and God's grace at the Mount Olive Baptist Church, Centreville, Virginia.
