The Rev. Vincent H. Kongs, 78, Basehor in Leavenworth County, a Catholic priest, died Oct. 29, 1992, at Providence-St. Margaret Health Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Savior of the World Pastoral Center; graveside services will be at 4:30 p.m. Monday at the St. Mary's Cemetery, St. Benedict, Kan. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Holy Angels Catholic Church, Basehor, where the rosary will be said at 5 p.m. The family suggests contributions to the restoration fund of St. Mary's church in St. Benedict or to the building fund of Holy Angels church.
Father Kongs had been pastor of Holy Angels church since 1985. Earlier he was pastor of St. Bridget's Catholic Church, north of Axtell, Kan., and St. Fidelity Catholic Church, south of Sabetha, Kan. He also served churches in Westphalia, Kan. Edgerton in Johnson County and Baldwin City, Kansas.
He attended the St. Benedict's College in Atchison, Kan., and was a graduate of the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio, where he was ordained a priest in 1942. He was born near Seneca, Kan., and lived in this area most of his life.
Survivors include two brothers, Donald A.Kongs, Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Louis A. Kongs, Topeka, and four sisters, Eulalia Tangeman and Dorothy Ronnebaum of Seneca, Rita Feldkamp, Baileyville, Kan., and Sister Susan Kongs, Concordia, Kan.

Father Kongs was ordained to the priesthood on May 30, 1942. We celebrated his Golden Jubilee May 31, 1992 at the Savior of the World Pastoral Center. A luncheon and reception hosted by the parishoners followed at the Father Quinlan Hall at 154th and Leavenworth Road.
