McMinnville resident and Van Buren County native Ruby Jewell Raper, 86, died unexpectedly June 1 at River Park Hospital.

A homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church, she was the daughter of William Edward and Emma Rowland Johnson Jr.; and was preceded in death by her husband, Arndell Raper in 1999.

She is survived by daughters, Gayle Chrisman of Athens, Jan Breeden of Jackson, Ginger Latham of McMinnville and Marsha Raper of Sevierville; sons, Gary and Mike Raper, both of Sevierville and Ricky Raper of McMinnville; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday at High's Chapel with Larry Joe Martin officiating. Burial followed at Laural Creek Cemetery in Van Buren County.

High Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
