Naturalist. He was a collector of natural objects and was remarkable for his graphic description of the habits of animals. His collection was purchased by the British musuem. He was elected a Fellow of the Linnean Society in 1824, of the Geological Society in 1825, and of the Royal Society in 1828. He was a founder-member and first Secretary of the Zoological Society.
