Ferdinand T. Parrish, 92, a resident of Garvey Manor, formerly of Loretto, Pa., died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1998, at the manor.
He was born Aug. 17, 1906, in Loretto, to Edward T. and Emma (Cooper) Parrish. His wife, Ella Marie (Kline) Parrish, preceded him in death May 13, 1991.
Survivors include: children, Lyle of Babylon, N.Y., Lloyd of Loretto, Mrs. Robert (Norma) Reynolds of Chesapeake, Va., Edward of Richmond, Va., Mrs. Leonard (Bernadette) Illig of Tiffin, Mrs. Vincent (Marlene) Stubler of Reading, Pa., Charles of Pottstown, Pa. and Loretta of Loretto; 24 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; a brother, Francis of Edensburg, Pa.
Also preceding him in death were a sister, Helen O'Donnell; and two brothers, Harry and the Rev. Eugene. His last surviving brother died Nov. 13, 1998.
Mr. Parrish worked as a caretaker for the Carmelite Monastery, Loretto for 41 years; delivered coal for 32 years; was an auctioneer for 20 years; owned a used furniture business in Loretto for 45 years and a laundromat for 15 years.
His ancestors came to the Loretto area in 1760.
He was a member of the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel, Loretto, where a funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, with the Rev. Monsignor Thomas Maher as celebrant. Five priests also concelebrated the Mass. Interment was in St. Michael Cemetery.
The Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville, Pa., were in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Carmelite Monastery in Mr. Parrish's memory.
