Birth: Oct. 25, 1956
Los Angeles
Los Angeles County
California, USA
Death: May 1, 2009
Henderson

Entertainer. In his time he was the highest paid performer on the Las Vegas strip. Gans was a headlining act at the Las Vegas Mirage Hotel and Casino for nearly a decade before beginning a run at the Encore Theater in February 2009. He appeared briefly on Broadway in November 1995, in his one man act of "The Man of Many Voices," before moving to Las Vegas in 1996. In 2008, he was named Las Vegas Entertainer of the Year for the 11th straight year. An all-American baseball prospect out of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, he spent time in the Kansas City Royals and Chicago White Sox organizations before injury forced him from the game. His stage acts included impersonations of notable entertainers such as Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Johnny Carson, Tom Jones, George Burns, Louis Armstrong and Michael Jackson. He appeared as Dean Martin in the 1992 CBS miniseries "Sinatra." His other television and motion picture credits include "Bull Durham" (1988), "Open House" (1989), "Roseanne" (1991), "Silk Stockings" (1991-1992) and "Spring Fling!" (1995). He appeared as himself on TVs "Larry King Live," the "View," and the "Bonnie Hunt Show." He died in his sleep at his home in Henderson, Nevada from undisclosed respiratory problems at the age of 52. (bio by: Nils M. Solsvik Jr.)

I read it was an accidental overdose of the prescription drug Dilaudid. I never got to see him perform.
