George Trowbridge Cady was the son of Cora Trowbridge Cady. The name of his natural father is not known, but in the 1880 census, Cora and George were listed with her parents, and they used the last name of Cowin. Cora later married Harry Cady and George from then on was known as George Trowbridge Cady.
In the 1900 census, George is in Buffalo, NY with his mother Cora and brother Herbert. George was listed as a Jeweler, an occupation he continued through his life.
George apparently moved to Syracuse shortly after the census was taken as he married Mary Louise Pfohl there a short time later.
George and Mary had one son, Joseph George Cady, who was born in 1901. They all lived in Syracuse where George was a jeweler and watchmaker. When their son married in 1926, they all lived together in a house on East Corning Avenue in Syracuse.
George and Mary along with their son bought a cottage on Lake Ontario in the early 1930's. They spent quite a bit of time there and greatly enjoyed it. Mamie liked to fish and George would row her out in the boat. She was a large woman by this time, and the boat had a definite "tilt" with George trying to row it with her in it.
George remarried after his wife died, his second wife being Fannie Statham. He died in 1957. According to his obituary, the cause of his death was uremia, heart and kidney disease.
