Birth: Dec. 4, 1814
Wake County
North Carolina, USA
Death: Oct. 12, 1876
Wake County
North Carolina, USA

Amy Ann Myatt was born in Wake Co, NC, youngest of 3 known children born to farmers, Acril Myatt & Ann Nancy Gilmore. She is the paternal granddaughter of Mark Myatt & Mary Speight; and gr-granddaughter of John Miot/Myatt who immigrated from Stafordshire, England and married Elizabeth Allen of Johnston Co, NC ca. 1746. She is the maternal granddaughter of Stephen Gilmore & Amy Matthews of Cumberland Co, NC.

Amy Ann married William Lile Fort on June 8, 1836, and farmed in the Auburn Pct of Wake Co, where they raised 7 known children: Charlotte Fort (1838); Sarah Fort (1840); Dr. William Acril Fort (1842-1911) who moved to Gaffney, SC; Selina Fort (1843-1911); Emily L. Fort (1846); Laurens/Lawrence Fort (1849); and David Ira Fort (1852-1904), who married Fannie Hart Wilder.

Amy was widowed in 1871 and died 5 years later in 1876, at about age 61.

The graves of the Fort and Barber families were moved from the Fort-Barber farm on White Oak Road, Garner, in 1993; the location of which is now occupied by a shopping mall. I do not believe the Forts and Barbers were related, but that Warmley/Wormley Barber purchased the Fort farm after they died, and he and his wife were buried at the farm after their deaths.
