David Gilbert Douglas, oldest son of David and Emmaline McIntyre Douglas, was born Sept 19, 1881, near Burchard, Neb. He came with his parents to
Iowa at an early age and located on a farm south of Corning, later moving to Missouri then back to a farm near Liberty, Neb., which was the family
home. He spent some time with his grandparents and attended Lenox High School, and also the Academy at Pawnee City, Neb.
He was united in marriage to Mildred Alberta Hunt near Burchard on Feb 7, 1906. To this union seven children were born Glen, Earl, Mineva, Deloris,
Bernice, Donald and Beulah Arlene.
Preceding him in death: his wife Mildred in 1945, one daughter Beulah Arlene in 1930 and a son Earl, who passed away last June 23, also one grandson
Lee Clair Douglas, his parents, and four brothers, Earl, Willie, Eara and Meril.
Those left to mourn his passing are his sons, Glen of Lenox, and Donald of Prescott; three daughters, Mineva Tully, Deloris Beck and Bernice Brown,
all of Lenox; 3 daughters-in-law, 3 sons-in-law, 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. One niece, Blythe Taylor of Liberty, Neb., several other relatives and a host of friends.
He was a charter member of the Congregational church at Liberty, Neb., and was privileged to attend the 50th anniversary of the church a year ago. He later transferred his membership to the United Presbyterian church at Mission Creek, Neb., where he was an active member and served as elder,
teacher and superintendent.
He moved with his family to Atkinson, Neb., and later to Lenox where he transferred his membership to the United Presbyterian church and where he
spent the remainder of his life. He was a faithful follower of Christ, a great believer in the Word of God, and an ardent worker for the Kingdom of God. He went
to be with his Lord on April 30, 1963.
The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at the Lenox United Presbyterian church with Rev James Eddy officiating. Forrest Whipp and Guy Henderson,
accompanied by Norma Paymal sang "In The Garden" and "Ivory Palaces." The pall bearers were Clifford Wurster, Robert Reynolds, Geo Reynolds, Gene Holben,
Lloyd Stream and John Orr. Burial was in Lenox Fairview cemetery.
