Norman F. Foster, 73, of Amarillo died Monday, April 27, 2009.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Llano east Cemetery with the Rev. Terry Stegall, associate pastor of Grace Fellowship Church in Borger, officiating and military honors by Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 26. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St.

Mr. Foster was born July 9, 1935, in Doole to William and Viola Cowan Foster. Norman graduated from Borger High School in 1955. He graduated from Frank Phillips College on May 29, 1957, and from Amarillo College on May 14, 1973.

Norman served in the Army from 1958 to 1964. After he was honorably discharged from the Army, Norman began his career at Mason & Hanger, Pantex. He retired in 1997 as an inspection supervisor after 32 years of service.

Norman loved wood crafting, playing pool and working puzzles. He loved being at home and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed cruising with his wife, sister and brother-in-law. He was a wonderful husband, dad, brother, "Pa-Paw" and friend. He will be greatly missed and will always be "Our Hero."

Norman married the love of his life, Margaret, on May 28, 1964. He was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Donnie Lee Burris; a great-grandson, Dallyn Cole Burris; two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Wanda Taylor and husband David and Cindy Burris, all of Borger; two sons, Robert Bynum of Borger and William Storment of Stinnett; two sisters, LaVerne Ricketts of San Antonio and Delores Buntin of Azle; a brother, Charles Foster of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his favorite feline companion, Bootsie.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be to the Don & Sybil Harrington Cancer Center, 1500 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106; or Olivia's Angels, BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
