Lila Bell Walker, daughter of the late James and Clara Neal was born Sept. 8th, 1894, one of 10 children in Sauk Center, Minn. She passed away at her home in Sauk Centre, Feb. 9th, 1954, at the age of 59 years and 5 months.
Mrs. Walker had been in ill health for several years and had suffered a severe stroke in August, 1953 from which she never fully recovered and had been confined to her home ever since.
She was united in marriage Oct. 2nd, 1917 to Fred H. Walker in Sauk Centre. To this union was born 7 children, 6 of whom with the husband survive, they are as follows: Raymond, Henry, Clifford, Charlie, Vivian (Mrs. Norman Bohne), all of Sauk Centre, and Russell of Rutherford College, North Carolina. There are 9 living grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Earl, Ray and Vird Neal, one daughters, Shirley May, and one granddaughter, Stella Marie Walker. She is also survived by 6 brothers and sisters as follows: Howard and Bert of Trenton, Wash.; Harry of Mesa, Ariz.; Mary of Glenwood City, Wis.; Ben of Carthage, Ind., and Ruth of Sauk Centre.
The deceased was baptized and joined the Episcopal church of Sauk Centre in her girlfriend and 1936 was transferred to the Methodist church.
Mrs. Walker was a very quiet and home loving person who devoted her entire life to her home and family.
Funeral services were held at the First Methodist church Feb. 12, at 2 o'clock. Rev. C. E. LeMasters officiating. Jack Kettlewell was vocalist and Leona Kettlewell, organist. Interment was in the Greenwood crypt, Sauk Centre. The Corrigan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
The pallbearers were Emil Majerus, Ray Matz, Earl Snow, Julian Forrest, Fred Herkenhoff Sr., and Victor Wiener.
