Frances Elizabeth Stephens, 80, died Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center in Amory. She was born August 12, 1924, in Lee County to Alvey Poe Stephens and Julia May Ledbetter Sisk. A native of Nettleton, she had lived in Amory for the past six months. She was a 1944 graduate of Nettleton High School and a Methodist. She was a former volunteer librarian at the Nettleton Library and a former writer for the Nettleton News.
Services were at the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton with the Rev. Perry Griffith officiating. Burial was in Nettleton Cemetery.
Survivors include four sisters, Juanita Rosebud Davis and husband, Ralph, of Amory, Jolin Marie Pearce and husband, Don, of Hendersonville, Tenn., Mary Newman and husband, Lee, of Vidor, Texas, and Sue Paxston and husband, Bill, of Davenport, Iowa; five brothers, Alvey Lee Stephens of Clearwater, Fla., Jimmy E. Stephens of Clarksdale, Robert L. Stephens of Knoxville, Tenn., Johnny Stephens and wife, Kathy, of Streator, Ill., and Alvey Poe Stephens Jr. of Bay Springs; a special niece, Shelby Dykes of Amory; a special nephew, Jimmy Dykes of Amory; two special great-nieces, Lisa Chesnutt of Amory and Juanita Reeves of Smithville; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lucille Stephens and Joy Stephens; and a brother, Issac Stephens.
Pallbearers were James Dykes III, Mitch Wilbanks, Louis Corbell, Robert Dykes, Eric Benson and John Ritter.
