Mrs. Charles T. Blakney
Sudden Death of Lexington Woman Monday Night.
Mrs. Charles Blakney expired suddenly Monday evening shortly after 6 o'clock following a stroke of apoplexy. She had been in the best of health and had just dressed to take the evening train to Chenoa when the sudden attack came upon her. A doctor was called at once but she never recovered consciousness and died shortly afterwards.
Sarah Fleming was born in Charleston, Coles county, Illinois, May 29, 1847 and died at her home in Lexington, Sept. 7, 1914, aged 67 years, 3 months and 8 days. She was married to Chas. T. Blakney, October 10, 1870.
To this union were born twelve children, five of whom preceded the mother in death. Those living are, Mrs. H.M. Jones, of Ventura, Iowa, Mrs. W.E. Fenton and Wesley Blakney, of Normal, Mrs. W.H. Lute, of Chenoa, Miss Jane Blakney, of Springfield, and Mrs. Emma Gray and George Blakney, of Lexington. Besides these immediate relatives the deceased leaves twenty grandchildren and one aged brother, Arch Fleming, of Charleston.
The family moved to Lexington, in 1884, and has since lived here since that time. The departed was a member of the Christian church in Lexington, having united with this church many years ago.
The funeral services were held from the Christian church at 2:30 p.m. today. Rev. W.H. Storm, the pastor of the church, officiated. The interment was in the Lexington cemetery.
