Fashion Editor. As an editor at "Vogue" magazine, she helped set American clothing standards for 30 years. Born to a family of wealth and social position, she went to work at "Vogue" after graduating fron the Convent of the Holy Child in 1943. Working her way up to editor, she was advisor and mentor to numerous designers and models. At the same time, her strict Catholic background lead her to block anything she deemed in poor taste. The first to spot the talent of Giorgio Sant'Angelo, she encouraged him to expand from bracelets to clothing; a champion of such designers as Donald Brooks, Anne Fogarty, and Sydney Wragge, she often made contributions to their work. Cathy married wealthy Italian nobleman and insurance executive Alessandro di Montezemolo (deceased 2003) in 1958, and continued at "Vogue" until the early 1970s. She then became a designer in her own right, marketing her line, "Noi", out of Milan. Begining in the early 1980s, she was fashion director at Lord & Taylor for a dozen years, after which she retired to her charity activities in the Southamptons.
