Birth: unknown
Death: unknown

Believed to have been born in KY.
May have died between 1870-1876, probably Maines Co MO.

Lore is he was killed during the civil war. However, children born in 1865, 1867 and 1869 are shown to be his, and he appears as "Head" in 1870 census. While he may have died as a result of injuries or disease contracted during the civil war, other family members indicate he died in an accident involved with butchering hogs in Maines Co MO. His wife remarried in 1876, leading to assumption he died between 1870 census and her marriage in 1876.

Anyone with information as to Jim's COD and burial location is asked to contact via the "edit" button.

-Thomas Richard "Tom" 1869-1951 (m1: Nola "Wilse" Allen, M2: Mrs. Maggie (Moore) Headley). Note: Tom is buried as Shelton, not Shelten.

Given name not proved. No record found that shows his full name -- dau Margrett gave his name as "Thomas", two other daughters gave it as "Jim", and son Thomas gave it as James. It is believed it was James Thomas "Jim", which was the name his son Joseph gave to his firstborn son.
