Services were Sept.8 at Hillcrest Memorial Park for Dwight Wilbur Titterington of Oakwood Village. Mr.Titterington,90, died Sept.5 at Meridia Suburban Hospital, Warrensville Heights. Mr. Titterington held a bachelor of science degree from Ohio State University and a degree in education from Kent State University. For 35 years he taught chemistry at Bedford High School with wisdom, patience and wit that endeared him to his students. He maintained contact with former students throughout his life. A dedicated naturalist, Mr. Titterington devoted his summers to biological research at Gibraltar Island and Buckeye Lake. In 1949 he became interested in arborculture and continued his experiments in this field by growing a large variety of trees on his property, "Eight Acres".
In 1959 he was awarded a scholarship to Murray State College to study chemistry, physics, meteorology and geology. In 1962 the Bedford High School year-book was dedicated to "Mr.T."
A 40-year member of the Bedford Lions Club, Mr. Titterington served as it's treasurer for nine years, asnd also served for several years as treasurer of the Bedford Historical Society.
He was the husband of Dorothy, nee Prestage; father of Wesley(Carolyn) and the late James (Janice); grandfather of Lynda, Dorothy, Anne, Anne Elizabeth and James, and great-grandfather of Nicole and Mark. (Bedford Times-Register, Thurs. September 10, 1992)
