Frederick Staton was a Captain in the War of 1812. Originally from Tarboro, NC he became a large land owner in NW Anson County of over 5,000 acres. Much of this land passed out of the family following the civil war. Most of the Statons of Western North Carolina, numbering in the thousands, are descendants of Frederick Staton.
