Gertrude was the daughter of Franklin Pierce Ship & Clarinda Bagby. Obit says she was a trained Nurse at a hospital in Merced CO.CA.
She met & married an Edward Elmer Baxter a young farmer, who died in 1923 at the young age of 42.
They had one son named Owen Edward Baxter. He died a few months after his father, 1924 .
After her parents died & also her husband & son, Gertrude returned to Randolph Co. MO. She committed suicide by hanging her self from a tree limb in her brother's yard.
Her Brother Ben Shipp escorted her remains back to be buried in the Baxter plot on Feb 4th 1926

Mrs Gertrude M Baxter, a former resident of the county, passed away at the home of her brother, Benjamin Shipp, at Higbee, Missouri, where she had been making her home for the past year. Mrs Baxter was aged 43 years and was the widow of the late Edward Baxter, who died in Le Grand about two years ago. Previous to her marriage she resided in Merced and followed her profession of trained nurse. The remains were brought to Merced Wednesday, and the funeral services, at which Rev D C Williams officiated, were held in Plainsburg at 10:30 o'clock Thursday morning. Internment was made in the family plot in the Plainsburg cemetery.
