On April 19, 2009, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away in Bountiful, Utah, surrounded by loved ones.

Esther Catherine Olson, 91, was born on February 21, 1918 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Heber T. and Margaret Hall.

She attended Brigham Young University where she earned her degree in Elementary Education and went on to teach in Washington D.C. for many years prior to retiring to Mesa, Arizona.

She and Boyd Ellertson Olson were married in Salt Lake City, Utah on December 30, 1942; together they raised four children and celebrated 66 years of marriage.

The greatest loves in Catherine's life, in addition to her husband, were her children, grandchildren and great-grand-children. She also enjoyed gardening, crafts, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.

Catherine was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Especially precious to her was the time she spent with Boyd serving in their church and volunteering in the community. Her family is comforted by the knowledge that they are once again together.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband and is survived by two sons -- Brent (Dianne), Ken (Kathy); two daughters Kay (Kevin) Tingey, Karen (Scott) Stuart; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grand-children, and her siblings Lowell Hall, and Audrey (Lyman) Marler.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah. A Memorial Service celebrating Catherine's life will follow at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
