Richard Paul "Rich"/"Pa-Pa," Kerstetter, 70, of Richfield RR 1, Monroe Twp., Juniata County, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004 in Harrisburg Hospital.

He was born Nov. 30, 1933 in Oriental, Susquehanna Twp., Juniata County, to the late Clarence and Sadie (Shaffer) Kerstetter.

He and his brother-in-law, John Teats, operated Kerstetter and Teats Masonry Construction for 35 years, and he formerly worked at Harrisburg Steel; was a Juniata County commissioner from 1980 to 1996; a 1951 graduate of Greenwood Joint High School, Millerstown; a member and former church council member of St. John Lutheran Church, Richfield, where he also taught Sunday school and was a member of the adult Sunday school class; a life member of Richfield Sportsmans Association; a member of Union Lodge 324 F&AM, Mifflintown, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Juniata Valley Forest 88, Richfield Lions Club, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1173, Selinsgrove, Juniata County Farm Bureau and Richfield Fire Company and Ambulance League; a former member of the East Juniata School Board; and enjoyed NASCAR, attending local dirt track racing events and hunting and traveling to Potter County on hunting excursions.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Marguerite Swartz Kerstetter; a son, Dale R. of Liverpool RR 1; two daughters, Darlene K. Savercool of Richfield RR 1 and Trudy L. Schell of McAlisterville RR 2; a brother, Ronald R. of Millerstown; two sisters, Thelma Teats and Lorraine Hockenbrock, both of Liverpool; and five grandchildren, Nathan R. Kerstetter, Heidi R. Kerstetter, Jennie E. Seigler, Justin C. Seigler and Thomas J. Schell.

He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, John Teats.

Services were held Feb. 19 in his church with the Rev. Celo V. Leitzel officiating. Burial was in Richfield Union Cemetery.
