Birth: 1793
Shenandoah County
Virginia, USA
Death: unknown
Harrison County
Indiana, USA

Eldest child of John & Elizabeth Mauck Pittman, wife of Jonas Fleshman (Fleischmann). Sarah was born between 1792-1794 near Strasburg in Shenandoah Co, Virginia. She moved to Indiana with her parents and siblings in 1808-1809, where they settled in what would become Scott Township in Harrison County (east of today's O'Bannon State Park). Sarah married Jonas Fleshman (Fleischmann) on 1 Nov 1810 in Harrison County and they lived on their farm near New Amsterdam until their deaths. Sarah died sometime after 2 July 1870. That was the last time she was listed in a Federal Census, in which she and Jonas were living with their son Philip and his family (likely on the family farm). According to several sources, Jonas died about 1877.

For more on Jonas & Sarah's genealogy, see this online family history.
