SARAH JANE (HONEYMAN) EIKENBARY
Sarah Jane Honeyman was the daughter of David and Isabella (Long) Honeyman. She was born on 11/30/1828 in Union County, Indiana.

Sarah Jane married Zachariah Eikenbary, the son of Samuel and Mary (Albaugh) Eikenbary, on 3/4/1849.

SARAH & ZACHARIAH'S CHLIDREN: All three were born in Liberty Township, Union County, Indiana.
George Monroe, b. 3/5/1851
Alfred Pierce, b. 8/9/1853
Francis Washington, b. November 1855 (5 mos after the death of his father)

TRADGEDY STRIKES
If the family lore is correct, Zachariah accidentally drowned in the Wabash River on 6/5/1855 when Monroe & Alfred were only about 2 & 4 years old and Sarah was expecting their third child. Just three months after her husband's death, Sarah's mother, Isabella (Long) Honeyman, died on 9/11/1855. Isabella and Zachariah are buried next to each other in Silver Creek Cemetery in Liberty, Indiana.

MOVE TO ILLINOIS
In 1864, nine years after her husbands death, Sarah moved to Mercer County Illinois with her father and many other relatives. They traveled nearly 400 miles in a great wagon train with all their possessions to their new home. At that time Monroe was 13, Alfred Pierce 11, and Frank was 9. Schools in New Boston Township were excellent so for the times, the Eikenbary boys' received a very good education, after they moved to Mercer County.

On November 15, 1873, Sarah's father, David Honeyman, was listed as guardian of the three Eikenbary boys in the will reading for the estate of their grandfather, Samuel Eikenbary.

But when David Honeyman died on 3/18/1874, He only left $1 to his daughter Sarah Eikenbary and a share of any remaining estate. The Eikenbary boys received nothing from thier grandfather David's estate.

Sarah Jane died in Muscatine Co, Iowa on 5/30/1884 at the age of 55 years and 6 months. She was brought back to Mercer County and buried beside her father, David Honeyman.
