George McCool Ethridge was born Oct 16, 1883 in Abbeville County, SC to Civil War Veteran, James Derrick Ethridge and Mary McCool Ethridge.
George`s father was 40 years old when he was born, and his mother was 36. George`s mother died when he was just six years old and his father never remarried.
George married Lula Mae McManus on Jan 10, 1906 in Greenwood County, SC. when he was 23 years old. They had five children. George Ethridge lived in Greenwood, SC all his life, but he died in a nursing home in Lexington, SC. His obituary states that he was a textile worker and a member of the South Greenwood Church of God.
George and his wife, Lula both lived to the ripe age of 87. When they died they left 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
