Mr. Clyde A. Carter, 75, of 528 Ingram Street, Danville, died at his residence Saturday, April 11, 2009. Born Feb. 25, 1934, in North Carolina, he was the son of the late Dock Andrew Carter and the late Esther Carter. He was married to Gladys Mimms Carter of the residence. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in 1994, after 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served in Korea.

He is survived by four daughters, Betty Debeare, Patsy Jean Dix, Linda M. Morgan and Michelle Renee Johnson, all of Danville, and two sons, Edward Lee Mims of Pelham, and Jerry Lee Mims of Eden. He is also survived by two sisters, Jesse Mae Bowyer of West Virginia and Darlene Ayers of Danville; two brothers, Henry Carter of Java and Fred Carter of Florida, 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Cross and Lucille Matherley and four brothers, Johnny Carter, Willie Carter, Harry Carter and James Carter.

Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at Highland Burial Park, Danville, with Pastor James Albert officiating. Military honors will be by American Legion Dan River Post 1097, Danville.
