William "Bill" V. Pack, 94
HOWLAND – There will be funeral services Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel and at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Vienna, with Fr. Frank Zanni officiating, for William "Bill" V. Pack, 94, who passed away at 12:35 p.m. Tuesday (9-20-05) at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren.
He was born Sept. 23, 1910 in Youngstown to Matthew and Anna Floch Pacek.
A Chaney High School graduate, he was a well-known violinist, saxophonist and vocalist for two decades, beginning in the late 1920s, and was bandleader of Bill William's Villa Grande Orchestra, playing ar establishments such as Idora Park and Craig's Beach.
He married Ann Krempasky June 4, 1935, and moved to the Howland area in 1947. The same year, William and his wife began operation of Pack's Risher Dairy, a grocery-gas station-curb service restaurant atHowland Corners. In 1951, he built a new store and eatery located on the corner of Howland-Wilson Road and East Market Street in Howland, Pack's General Store, which he and his wife operated until the early 1970s.
He was previously plant manager and chief metallurgist of Metal Carbides Corp. in Youngstown. For more than 20 years, Mr. Pack was also a well-respected watch and clock repairman.
He was a member of St. Vincent de paul Church for more than 50 years and loved spending time with his family and enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Ann; two sons, Donald and David Pack, both of Warren; a brother, Victor (Marge) Pacek of Youngstown; three grandchildren, Heidi Hall, Melissa Pack and Kristin (Brian) Pishotti; three great-grandchildren, Alex, Mario and Mia; and a daughter-in-law, Willi of Nashville, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Raymond; his brothers, Louis Pack, Edward Pack and Dominic Pacek; and an infant sister, Bridgett.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Vincent de Paul Church, 4453 Warren-Sharon Road, Vienna, OH 44473.
