Chester M Baker, 87, Neck City, MO, died at 8:15 a.m. Saturday at his home after one month of ill health.
Mr. Baker was born Jan 14, 1895, at Carthage, MO. He had lived in Oronogo before moving to Purcell in 1926. He moved to Neck City in 1941. He was a retired miner and farmer. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Carthage and Webb City American Legion Post Nol 322. He was a veteran of World War I.
He married Mary Irwin Oct 14, 1923, at Purcell, MO. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Louis Cantu, Augusta, KS, Mrs. Eldon Wormley, Redondo Beach, CA, and Mrs. Louie Kirby, Belton; a son, C.W. "Bill" Baker, Carthage, MO; a sister, Mrs Robert Elliott, Webb City, MO; 26 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Friends Cemetery, Purcell, MO. The Rev. Charles H. Holt will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Knell Mortuary, Carthage, MO.
