SPANISH AMERICAN WAR VETERAN

Claude F. Daniels was the son of Franklin and Alice Daniels. He was born in Michigan on September 8, 1878. He stood five foot eight inches tall and had a ruddy complexion.

MILITARY RECORD:
Enlisted May 14, 1898 in Michigan. Assigned to Company "F" of 8th Michigan Volunteer Infantry. Discharged November 15, 1898. Pension awarded on Certificate No. C-2,312,448 in 1933.

While serving in the Philippines, he had to be hospitalized due to typhoid, malarial fever and yellow jaundice. He suffered from bronchial asthma also. A fellow veteran submitted an affidavit of the adverse conditions Mr. Daniels suffered under while in the Army.

A resident of Washington state for over 40 years, Mr. Daniels lived in Tacoma and Bremerton. He was unmarried when he was admitted to the Washington Veterans' Home in March 1957.

Mr. Daniels passed away October 6, 1957 at the age of 79 years in the V.A. Hospital in Seattle. He had a brother, Franklin M. Daniels in Seattle and another brother (unnamed) in Bellingham.
