Velma Leora Douglass, 78, Buckeye Road, Camden, died at her residence Sunday,
Dec. 18, 1994. Born at Alvordton, Ohio, on Nov. 13, 1916, she was the daughter
of Gertie E. Rininger and John W. Balis. She had resided for most of her life
in Hillsdale County and was a member of the Pioneer, Ohio, Nazarene Church. On
Sept. 14, 1937 she married Gaylord L. Taylor, and he died on April 1, 1959. She
married Aubrey Douglass on Oct. 26, 1962, in Waldron, and he survives. Also
surviving are a daughter, Mrs. James (Kay) Stewart of West Unity, Ohio; two
sons, Clyde (and wife, Ann) Taylor of Mount Pleasant and Roger Taylor of
Lockport, Ohio; three sisters, Maggie Clark of Waldron, Mary Williams of
Pratville and Helen Peterson of Julian, Calif; two brothers , Donald Balis of
Morence and Fred Balis of Sarasota, Fla; 10 grandchildren; and four great
grandchildren. Preceding her in death were two sisters, Doris and Mildred; and
two brothers, Paul and Royal. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the
Pioneer Nazarene Church with Pastor Mike Dunson officiating. Burial wil be in
Waldron Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at
the Eatle Funeral Home, Hudson. Preferred memorials are to the church or
Hospice of Hillsdale County.
