Obit Hobbs New Mexico; Frank Wayne Bell age 79 a long time teacher and the owner of Western Design and Drafting Service, died at his home on Saturday, February 7, 2009.Funeral service will be 2pm Feb 11 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Mary Jane Van Dussen officiating, interment at Memory Gardens, Hobbs NM with military honors provided by Ft Bliss Honor Guard and Masonic Rites provided by Hobbs Masonic Lodge #63 AF & AM.
Mr Bell was born Feb 23, 1929 near Mount Pleasant in Maury County, Tennessee to the late Charles Franklin Bell and Johnnye Leah Waggoner Bell. He attended Mt Pleasant High and graduated from Martin Junior college in Pulaski, TN. On October 13, 1950 he married Conelia Ann Pennington of Jones Valley TN in Nashville, TN. Frank served as a corporal in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Germany in 1951 and 1952. Mr Bell graudated from Peabody-Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN in 1955 with a Masters Degree in Education. In 1956 Frank and Ann moved to Hobbs, NM and he worked as an Industrial Arts teacher at Highland Junior High School for more than 30 years. He established Western Design and Drafting Service, designing many local homes and commercial buildings. Mr Bell was instrumental in establishing the Hobbs branch of Junior Achievement in 1970 serving as the first Executive Director. Frank was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hobbs NM. He was a member of Hobbs Masonic Lodge #63 AF & AM and he was a member of Lea County Shrine club. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Garland Tipps.
Frank is survived by his wife Ann; son and his wife, Donald Bruce and DArlene Bell and grandson Johnathon Charles Bell of Wichita Falls, TX; son and wife Kenneth Frank and Lisa Bell and grand daughters Jayelyn and Camryn of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by nephews Alan Tipps, David Tipps and niece Mary Garland Tipps.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the local Gideon Bible Fund or the Shriner Hospital.
