COHASSET Virginia C. (Lofgren) Babij, age 83, of Cohasset, formerly of Providence, Pawtucket and Warwick, RI, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009. Mrs. Babij was the beloved wife of Mathew Babij and the devoted mother of Jerilyn Huskins and her husband, Lloyd of Cohasset, and Sandra Batchelor and her husband, Steve of Pembroke Pines, FL. She was the loving grandmother of Larissa Huskins of Hoboken, NJ. Born and raised in Providence, RI, she was a graduate of Providence School Systems. She worked as a pharmacy technician for many years in a family run pharmacy. Virginia also worked for many years for the City of Pawtucket as an administrative Assistant to the Director of Civil Defense, an office, which had state and federal affiliations. Mrs. Babij had a 34 year association with and was a member of SGI-USA, Buddhists, since August 11, 1975. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 17, 2009 at 12 noon in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St. (across from St. Anthonys Church), Cohasset. Visiting hour from 11 a.m. to 12 noon Friday. In lieu of flowers, donations in Virginias memory may be made to the SGI-USA, c/o SGI-Boston Community Center, 930 Commonwealth Ave., Boston, MA. 02215 or Hospice Services of Mass., 577 Main St., Wareham, MA. 02571.
