Thomas married Elva Erma Jenkins on Dec. 24, 1931 in Silver Spring, MD. They had two sons, Thomas Dudley Potter, Jr. and Richard Arthur Potter. Thomas served in the U.S. Navy, and he was an auxiliary police officer in Arlington, VA. Elva died in 1962, and he later married Vera L. Potter.
Thomas Dudley Potter, Sr., 87, of Warsaw died Thursday, January 18, 1996, in a Richmond hospital.
Mr. Potter was a native of Prince William County and was the son of the late Louis Henry and Grace Sullivan Potter. He was a retired sales representative with American Oil Company.
Surviving are his wife, Vera L. Potter: two sons, Thomas D. Potter, Jr. of Kilmarnock and R. A. Potter of Lincolnshire, Il.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Edward Potter of Beltsville, Md., and Royston Potter of Denver, Co.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Jones-Ash Funeral Home, Rainswood, with entombment in Northern Neck Memorial Gardens, Callao. The Rev. Ken Overby and the Rev. R. E. Layne officiated. Pallbearers were Lynn Nash, Samuel Kilmon, Kenneth Fallin, Robert Shepherd, Stanley Chatham and James E. Hundley.
