Funeral services for Shirley Grace Stilwell, 85, of Palestine will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jay Abernathy and Dr. Richard Waters officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey and Foster Funeral Home, Palestine. Mrs. Stilwell passed away Sunday, April 12, 2009, in Palestine. She was born Sept. 5, 1923 in Hillsboro to Jada Gideon and Anna James Peden. Mrs. Stilwell was a retired special education director with the Palestine Independent School District. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She also was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Harvey Woman's Club and the Guion Music Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Judge Tom Stilwell. Mrs. Stilwell is survived by two daughters, Susan Jackson and husband Randy, and Ann Baker; sons, Thomas H. Stilwell Jr., and Henry Peden Stilwell and wife Rebecca; sister, Ruth Caddell; seven grandchildren, Thomas Conor Stilwell, Meagan Stilwell, Phillip Jackson, Jessica Baker, Mitch Baker, Abigail Grace Stilwell, and Katherine Stilwell; and one great-grandchild, Bailey Rae Jackson.
