WELL KNOWN LOCAL
Born in Oregon City 63 years ago; Funeral Services to Be Held Friday P.M.
Mrs. E.L. Shaw, well known matron of this city died at her home, 405 Sixth Street, Tuesday evening at 9:10 o'clock. She had been ill since last December.
Mary Elizabeth Ware was born in Oregon City on November 20, 1869, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Ware, who resided at Fifth and Washington streets. She is survived by her husband, Ed L. Shaw, ex-police chief and at present a bailiff in circuit court; two daughters, Virginia, instructer at Washington State College in Pullman, Wash. and Sedonia Shaw of Portland; one brother, Rev. A. J. Ware of Oregon City; two sisters, Mrs. C.A. Rands of Salt Lake City, and Mrs. J.E. Riley of Palouse, Wash.
Mrs. Shaw was an active member of Susannah Lee Barlow chapter, Daughters of American Revolution; the First Congegational Church and the Women's Club.
The body was taken to Holman & Pace Mortuary last night but will be returned to the residence today. Funeral services are to be held at the Congregational Church Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Dr. E.P. Bordon officiating. The remains will be taken to the Portland Crematoriam.
