SINGLETON, LUSTER ETTA (WELCH) - age 100, of Sharps Chapel, born March 25, 1901, passed away peacefully 9:25 a.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2002, at NHC of Ft. Sanders. She was a member of Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late William and Ida (Fletcher) Welch. Preceded in death by husbands, Cas Relford and Walter Singleton; sons, Alfred and Clifton Relford; grandchildren, Lowell Rutherford and Phyllis Thompson; brothers, Millard, Chester, Amon, Alex, and Sillas Welch; sisters, Helen Berry, Ola Loop, Gladys Baker, and Edythe Helton. Survivors: sister, Bonnie Brantley of Sharps Chapel; 11 grandchildren, Clarence Evans, Joyce Williams, Bill Wright, Aaron, Ken, Carlos, Randy and Jerry Relford, Ozella Brantley, Lawrence Rutherford, and Irene Walker; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren to include special great-grandchildren, George Relford, April Relford and Vickie Rutherford; special niece, Trula Berry; special nephew, Robert Welch; special friend, Betty Rhodes, and a host of other nieces, nephews, and relatives. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of NHC Healthcare. Funeral services 11 a.m. Saturday, Cooke Mortuary Chapel, Elder J. C. Monday officiating, with music by the Oak Grove Singers. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers: Randy Relford, Darren Relford, Roy Allen Thompson, Larry Braden, Wayne Ellison, and Roy Thompson. Honorary Pallbearers: Robert Welch and Patrick Relford. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, Cooke Mortuary, Maynardville.
