Mrs. Elizabeth Parkman Fincher, wife of Glenn A. Fincher, was killed on US
Highway 17A south of Georgetown when the automobile she was driving was struck
by another automobile driven by Plummer
Lambert. Mrs.
Marie Earl McKnight Bates, a passenger in Mrs. Fincher's automobile was
killed, as were two passengers in Mr. Lambert's autombile.
Mrs. Fincher was born September 10, 1922, in Edgefield County, a daughter of the
late Julian W. Parkmen and Mrs. Elizabeth Bledsoe Parkman of Moncks Corner.
She was the lunchroom supervisor of Berkeley Junior High School. She was a
member of First Presbyterian Church of Moncks Corner, a member of Eastern Star,
and a past president of the American Legion Auxillary. She was active in church
and civic affairs in Moncks Corner.
She was survived by her mother; her husband; a son, Glenn A. Fincher Jr. of
Moncks Corner; three daughters, Mrs. Frank (Ann) Price of Atlanta, GA, Mrs. Dan
(Bette) Wood of Moncks Corner, and Miss Frances Fincher of Moncks Corner; two
brothers, Julian W. Parkman Jr. of Sumter and Joseph A. Parkman of Greenville; a
sister, Mrs. Vivian Brown of Sumter; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, October 3, 1966, in First Presbyterian Church.
The Rev. T. H. Ekhoff officiated.
Burial, directed by Dial Funeral Home, followed in Berkeley Memorial Gardens.
