Arthur J. Parks Claimed by Death
Well Known Union Township Farmer Passes Away in Sioux City Tuesday

Arthur J. Parks, well known farmer south of Remsen, died Tuesday morning in the Methodist hospital, Sioux City. He was 60 years old. Mr. Parks had been in failing health several months due to a heart ailment and had been a hospital patient for two weeks.

Arthur James Parks was born August 31, 1883, at Shelby, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. I. J. Parks. The family moved to Danbury, Iowa, where Arthur spent his boyhood. On July 3, 1907, he was united in marriage to Bessie Phelps of Washta [sic, family had recently moved to Neligh, Nebraska] and they established a home on a farm there. Soon they came to Union township where he lived continuously save for three years.

Mr. Parks was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers. One of the sisters was Mrs. Ambrose Jermann of Remsen. Besides his widow, surviving him are three sons and three daughters. They are: Ronald of Paullina, Lowell of Remsen, Wilbur at home, Mrs. Andrew (Aurel) C. Collett of McPherson, Kas; Mrs. Lowell (Pauline) Dempster of Remsen and Charlotte, at home. There are seven grandchildren, also three sisters, namely Mrs. Wm. Utesch of Correctionville, Mrs. Arthur Warn of Battle Creek and Mrs. Arthur Cardwell of Sioux City.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock at the Nazarene church in LeMars, with the Rev. L. E. Mether of Albia, Iowa, officiating. Interment will be in the LeMars cemetery. Mr. Parks was well known in this territory; a man of outstanding habits and character and possessed of a personality which won him many friends. The bereaved family has the condolences of all in this great affliction.
