Rites Today for Well Known Woman Charity Worker

The funeral of Mrs. Sarah Wever Litschgi, widow of Charles Litschgi, will be held at 10 o'clock this morning in the roman Catholic Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. The Very Rev. James J. May, vicar general and rector at the cathedral, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
Mrs. Litschgi, a well known charity worker, was eighty-three years old. She died yesterday at her home., 16 Logan Street. She was born in Edgefield, a daughter of the late General John R. Wever and Miss Sarah LaBorde Dunton Wever, but has made her home in Charleston for many years. Mrs. Litschgi was active in work connected with the Charleston exposition in 1901, and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Ladies Benevolent society and the Benevolent society of the cathedral.
Known and admired by a wide circle of friends here, Mrs. Litschgi for years was familiarly known as "Miss Sallie."
Surviving are a sister Mrs. A.J. Gambate and a brother, Carroll Wever, both of St. Petersburg, Florida and several grandchildren.
Pallbearers, announced by McAlister's will be Dr. James E. Scott, Joseph B. Hyde, Thomas Leseane, William J. Strom, Theodore A. Wilbur, William Ravel, Richard H. Allan, Clarence Schachte, Elias Venning and D. Colson Barfield.

Daughter of John Ryden and Sarah Eliza Dunton Wever, Sarah married first Francis Oscar Kanapaux and second Charles Litschgi. The dates on the marker differ from those on her death certificate.
Sarah's maternal grandparents were Hollis and Zelime LaBorde Dunton of Edgefield.
Her maiden name is sometimes spelled Wever and sometimes Weaver.
